Emergence
2017
36.0 x 48.0 x 2.0
Silent Identity Series: emergence As we attempt to dive deep down ourselves, we can slowly see that we’re caught in the great unknown. Vast. Empty. Stuck at that moment when we couldn’t find ourselves. Nonetheless, we’re like seeds, the potential of becoming a beautiful forest lies and is trapped within us. Desperate for a wake-up call, to help us realize that we can design our future and path and be reminded that we’re only on the time capsule called life. Many will know the truth about it, some will cultivate that hidden potential, but only a few will be confident enough to emerge.

You can't climb beyond the limitations of your own belief Everything you’re capable to do is hidden within you That untapped, dormant, rich resources trapped inside you\ Like a small seed\ You hold that forest which no one else can see, except you\ So don’t be satisfied with your last success\ it’s the greatest threat to your growth\ Remember\ You’re always greater than what you are now\ always greater than what you think you are\ greater than what they think you are\ But it is up to you to hold on to that beautiful truth and release it\ For all you can ever be is in you now

The Influences Series

Our environment (movies we’re watching, social media, music we’re listening to, or even books that we’re reading), company, family or friends can influence greatly in our decisions and It can very much affect the success or failure of it. I believe that we can predict either success or failure by determining what we spend our time on. This pandemic made us all realise how precious time and season is. There’s a time and season for everything so we should always be aware of the influences surrounding us whether it’s taking us to our destination or distracting us to fulfil that purpose we’re born to do. I created these series to show how time and season is related to or influenced by this pandemic. Choosing a specific fabric print as my painting surface depicting an 18th/19th-century setting adds up as a symbol of the renaissance to juxtapose the contemporary issue of the COVID-19 pandemic. I thought on putting on masks or face coverings on the figures reiterating\ this interesting and challenging time we're currently in, perhaps, stimulating a moment of realization as to how fleeting our time is on earth as human beings.
