Reflections on Gender Violence

Art has the power to move people and create lasting change. That's why we're calling on artists from around the world to help us raise awareness and inspire action to end violence targeting individuals because of their gender. As part of this call for art, we invite artists to submit their works that reflect on the experiences of survivors of violence, the impact on families and communities, and the hope and healing that comes from breaking the cycle of violence. We welcome all forms of art, including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, digital art, and mixed media. The chosen pieces will be featured in the inaugural edition of Artit’s, non-commericial, open access book series ‘Reflections’ dedicated to exploring this critical issue through creative expression. This publication will serve as both a testament to the power of art and a call to action for a safer, more equal world. By participating in this initiative, you will join a global community of artists who believe in the power of art to inspire change.

The selected artworks will be prominently featured in the first issue of our non-commercial, open-access, digital publication, Reflections, a celebration of creativity that honors the most innovative and thought-provoking works from around the world. This inaugural edition, focusing on the critical and urgent theme of gender violence, aims to spark a powerful and emotive conversation about ending gender-based violence. By participating in this call for art, artists have the unique opportunity to use their creativity to raise awareness and inspire change. As a token of appreciation for their contribution, selected artists will receive a certificate of recognition that celebrates their achievements and the impact of their work. Their artworks will also be extensively promoted across Artit’s social media platforms and website, increasing their visibility and connecting them with a global audience of art collectors, gallerists, curators, fellow artists, and advocates. This reward package is designed to empower artists, elevate their voices, and showcase their creative talents while contributing to a meaningful and urgent cause.

To participate in the "Speak Out: Art Against Violence", follow these simple steps:

✧ Register on Artit: Join our vibrant community by creating your profile, if you're not already a member. This is where your exciting journey with us begins!

✧ Curate Your Portfolio: Assemble your chosen artworks that are relevant to the theme, and use the description of each work to speak out and share your voice with the world.

✧ Submit Your Work: Once your portfolio is set up, select the pieces that best capture the essence of the theme. Remember to double-check your submissions, ensuring each work's title, medium, dimensions, year of creation and the story behind it is available for our audience to view.

✧ Sit Back and Relax: Our jury team of seasoned artists will meticulously evaluate all submissions. You'll hear from us via email and of course, you'll be able to follow the contest's updates through Artit's platform and social media profiles to stay up to date about the outcome within two weeks of the closing date.

Our goal is to ensure a fair and transparent selection process that upholds the values of diversity and non-biased procedures. To achieve this, a diverse team of art professionals as well as field experts coming from NGOs and other related organisations who will contribute to our mission, will review and evaluate each submission based on its artistic merit, originality, and relevance to the theme. Each artwork is evaluated on its own merit and the selection was made based on the artistic excellence, originality, and relevance to the theme. The jury team is committed to ensuring that every submission receives equal consideration and that the selection process is fair and objective. We understand the importance of giving a platform to emerging artists, which is why we aim to provide opportunities for artists at all stages of their careers. Therefore, we are looking for submissions from both established and emerging artists. By bringing together a diverse range of voices, we believe that our publications will showcase the richness and depth of contemporary art.
