Interview with Lottevont

''My visuals bridge the gap between my internal world and the world we share, proving that even the most personal creation can spark a universal connection''

Interview with Lottevont

Lottevont grew up between cultures, and that experience of living in the in-between became the foundation of an entire visual language. Working digitally, Lottevont builds images where rigid grids meet organic forms, where technology and nature are not opposing forces but potential partners. The work carries a clear conviction: that the digital tools of this era should be used to protect the natural world, not accelerate its decline. This is a conversation about friction, coexistence, and learning to trust the instinct that knows something is right before the mind can explain why.

✧✧✧

How has your upbringing or cultural heritage shaped the themes and techniques you explore in your art today?

I’ve always been drawn to the friction between worlds, pairing rigid digital code with the fluidity of nature, or soft botanical forms against cold, geometric grids. For a long time, I viewed these as conflicts, but I’ve come to realize they are a reflection of my own heritage.

Being a product of multiple cultures means living in the 'in-between.' My art is an attempt to meld these seemingly polar opposites into a unified worldview. Just as I am a synthesis of different backgrounds, my work seeks to prove that disparate elements don't just coexist, they can create an entirely new reality and new identity.

Can you pinpoint a single moment in your life when you realized art was not just a passion but your purpose?

For a long time, combining nature and technology was just an aesthetic I loved. But the turning point came when I was commissioned to create artwork for ocean preservation. The realization hit me at that moment. I realised that my visuals could do more than just look beautiful; They could be a voice for the planet.

My purpose is to redefine our relationship with the machine. We are living in a time where we must learn to co-work, co-create, and co-exist. My work is a call for harmony between the digital grid and the natural world, proving that technology can and should be a partner in preserving the life that sustains us.

How does your art engage with or comment on pressing contemporary issues—social, political, or environmental?

In a world that feels increasingly divided between the natural and the digital, my visuals serve as a bridge. The most pressing issue I address is the perceived conflict between technology and the environment.

Through my work, I comment on the necessity of co-existence. I use 'digital grids' to frame 'organic blooms' as a metaphor for our current era: we cannot escape the digital age, but we can choose to use it to co-create a better future. Whether I’m advocating for ocean protection or highlighting the resilience of nature, my goal is to show that we must preserve our planet while advancing our technology.

I know it may seem paradoxical, but I want my digital work to act as a catalyst. By capturing the vibrant beauty of nature and delivering it to your screen, I hope to spark a memory of the real world, inspiring you to eventually put down your device and step outside. I believe we all need that physical connection to nature to remain fully human.

If you could communicate just one core message through your entire body of work, what would it be?

If I could communicate just one message, it’s that we must move past the idea of 'Technology vs. Nature' and embrace 'Technology AND Nature.'

I believe it’s a bit of a myth to say we can find a perfect, effortless balance. Progress always involves trade-offs. However, we are now in an era where we can no longer afford to let these worlds collide. We must instead use our technological advancements to actively preserve the natural world. My work is a reminder that the digital tools we build should not be the reason for nature's decline, but the very instruments we use to protect our flora and fauna. Co-existence isn't a passive dream; it’s an active, tech-driven commitment to the planet.

Can you share a moment when someone’s unexpected interpretation of your art gave you a new perspective?

My creative process is driven by a sharp, internal intuition, a raw instinct for composition, tension, and the melding of worlds. While I am the architect of the emotion behind the work, I’ve realized that the viewer is the witness of its impact.

I know exactly what needs to exist on the canvas to satisfy my vision, but I often discover the full weight of my work through the lens of the audience. It is a powerful, magical realization to hear an unexpected interpretation that translates my private intuition into a collective experience. These moments don't just give me a new perspective; they validate the resonance of my visuals. It confirms that my visuals bridge the gap between my internal world and the world we share, proving that even the most personal creation can spark a universal connection.

Name five pivotal lessons you’ve learned that shaped your artistic journey.

✧Momentum over Perfection: Just Keep Creating

The first step is always the hardest, but the most important lesson I’ve learned is to simply keep creating. By creating and practing every day, I’ve learned that the act of doing is what eventually clears the path toward a breakthrough.

✧Radical Intuition: Listen to Your Heart

In a world full of digital noise and trends, my most successful works have always come from an internal pulse. I’ve learned to trust my intuition, that quiet, intuitive voice that knows a composition is right before my mind can explain why. If it doesn't resonate with me first, it will never resonate with the world.

✧The Mirror of Practice: Self-Discovery Through Accumulation

I used to think I knew my own tastes, but I realized that true self-knowledge only comes through the accumulation of work. After years of consistent practice, I can look back at my body of work and finally see who I am. My art didn't just express my identity; it helped me build it. You don't find your style; you practice until it finds you.

✧Lean Into the Friction: Difference is Your Edge

It is natural to feel nervous when your work doesn't fit in, but I’ve learned that the very things that make me feel strange or different are the reasons I stand out. The friction between my cross-cultural background and my interest in tech and. nature is my greatest asset. I’ve learned to stop hiding the mismatch and start highlighting it.

✧The Courage of Authenticity: Being Yourself is the Ultimate Strategy

Being yourself is terrifying because it makes you feel different, but I’ve learned it is the only way to be truly special. Authenticity isn't just a lifestyle choice; it is what people actually appreciate and connect with.

List five moments or achievements in your career that fill you with gratitude.

✧The Validation of the Industry: Winning Awards

Receiving professional awards was a pivotal moment of acknowledgement. It wasn’t just about the trophy; it was the realization that the conflicts and worlds I was building resonated with experts in the field. It gave me the confidence to push my boundaries even further.

✧From Personal Vision to Public Space: Exhibitions & Collaborations

Seeing my visuals move from my private screen into exhibition spaces and collaborative projects is something I never take for granted. Every time a curator selects my work or a brand invites me to a project or to an interview, it feels like an invitation to contribute to a larger cultural conversation.

✧Finding My Allies: Connecting with Like-Minded Visionaries

One of my greatest rewards has been the community. Through our shared passion for visual , nature and technology, I’ve met so many new friends who share the same vision. Finding people who speak the same visual language as you makes the journey feel empowering.

✧The Power of Support: Friends Who Stand by Me

I am deeply grateful for the inner circle I’ve built along the way. Knowing that my friends are standing by my side, celebrating my wins and supporting me whenever I am seen, is my greatest source of strength.

✧The Ultimate Discovery: Connecting with My Inner Voice

Perhaps the achievement I am most grateful for is the relationship I’ve developed with myself. Through the consistent act of creation, I’ve been able to reach a deeper side of my identity and truly hear my inner voice. My visuals didn't just show me what I could make; it showed me who I am.

✦ ✦ ✦

What drives Lottevont's practice is not just an aesthetic sensibility but a genuine belief that art can shift how people relate to the world around them. The digital image on a screen that makes someone want to go outside, the botanical form held within a geometric grid that suggests harmony rather than conflict: these are not accidental ideas. They are intentional, and they have been built steadily through years of daily work and honest self-examination. The style was not found all at once. It was practiced into existence, and it keeps growing from there.
