    Empowering Seniors as Sustainability Champions

How can creative education empower learners and professionals to lead the Green Transition through sustainable design and innovation?

How can we empower elderly visual artists to address climate change and influence environmentally friendly habit adoption among elderly individuals? Climate change is a pressing global issue, and interestingly, the growing ageing population, which is projected to comprise 21.1% of the global population by 2050, is among the highest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions. Despite this, climate action does not resonate with older individuals often, due to challenges like social isolation, health concerns, and limited mobility. Seniors Climate Action mobilises older adults as active agents of environmental change, creating opportunities for them to engage in climate action and civic processes long denied to them. By recognising the knowledge and lived experience older people bring, from decades spent in the places most affected by environmental change to a stake in the future they're helping build, it challenges the ageist assumptions that have kept them on the sidelines, and positions seniors as genuine contributors to climate solutions.
