hosq invites sound artists, choreographers, and visual artists to Études Lab #1, a groundbreaking three-day experimental laboratory in Yerevan, Armenia, designed for cross-disciplinary exploration and collective creation.
At the core of Études Lab #1 is a commitment to experimentation and collective creativity. Participants develop performance concepts through interactive collaboration, exploring memory, trauma, and the subconscious through interdisciplinary practices. Applicants propose project ideas aligned with one of three themes: Echo of the Forgotten, investigating forgetting as an active process in collective memory, sound, and imagery; The Archive of Pain, exploring trauma's imprint on individual and collective consciousness and its transformative potential; and The Memory of Water, a poetic reflection on the fluidity of memory and its ties to nature, time, and cultural heritage.
The program runs across three days. Participants gather at Hay Art Gallery to form creative teams and explore emerging themes, followed by rapid reviews and artistic workshops leading to concept development and group discussion, and culminating in final installations and performances presented to an invited audience. The standout project receives a grant for further development and touring.
