Color holds what language cannot.
It carries memory in ways we feel before we name—the blue of a childhood room, the red of warning or desire, the green that signals life or envy. Color is never neutral. It's coded by culture, shaped by emotion, and archived in our bodies as sensation, association, mood.
This month, Artit explores color not just as visual property, but as a repository of feeling, history, and meaning that shifts across contexts and time.
For October's Curator's Picks, we're building a new entry in the Artit archives: a collection exploring color as memory, as language, as political force, as the thing that fades or intensifies with distance.
We're calling on artists to explore themes of:
✧ color as emotional or sensory archive
✧ cultural and political meanings of color
✧ synesthesia and chromatic experience
✧ fading, saturation, and chromatic time
✧ color as identity, as belonging, as resistance
✧ the impossibility of accurately remembering color
✧ monochrome as absence or statement
