Cultural Reforesting Residency

RUPTUREXIBIT is offering an opportunity for a four-week residency with a £250 stipend to an artist or artist collective with an established practice to develop work in response to the theme of Cultural Reforesting. Selected artists will be given space and time to explore and develop new work that reflects on ecological renewal, systemic change, and interconnected futures. The residency includes an artist talk, workshop opportunities, and a public exhibition with a private view at the end of the residency.

✧ The artist will be in residence in RuptureXIBIT's 360 sq ft front gallery space for 4 weeks, from 3 June to 30 June. The artist will be in residence for two weeks prior to the Festival and will continue working through the two weeks of the festival.

✧ The studio is based in Hampton Wick, 5 mins walk from Bushy Park and the River Thames, as well as 10 mins walk from Home Park which leads to Hampton Court. and Kingston town centre 

✧ Open to a small group of artists (up to 5) or an individual artist with an established practice.

✧ The artist will be required to hold Open Studios as part of the festival during the weekends of 14th & 15th, 21st & 22nd and 28th & 29th June.

RuptureXIBIT will be open in its entirety during the Richmond Arts & Ideas Festival with all resident artists’ open studios at RuptureXIBIT promoted across the borough.

International artists are encouraged to apply, but there is no financial assistance for travel or accommodation.

To submit your application for the Cultural Reforesting Summer Residency, follow these simple steps:

✧ Create Your Artit Portfolio – Upload your artworks, descriptions, a short bio, and any relevant links (social media, website, etc.). This will serve as your application portfolio.

✧ Submit Your Work – Once your profile is complete, your submission will be reviewed and forwarded to Rupture Xibit team. If we need more information, our team will contact you to ensure your application is complete.

Once you have submitted your work, we will reach out to you directly to ask for additional materials, including:

✧ A 500 word or less proposal, explaining how you intend to respond to the theme, the space and location

✧ Your Artist Statement, 250 words or less.

✧ Your Full CV

Successful applicants will be selected depending on:
