Interchange | Exhibition Opportunity

Embark on a journey beyond the limits of conventional expression! 

Florence Contemporary invites artists from all corners of the creative cosmos to participate in their upcoming exhibition, ‘Interchange’. This open call seeks to celebrate the infinite possibilities within artistic exploration and the boundless realms of human imagination.

All visual artists over the age of 18 from all artistic disciplines, regardless of medium or style, are invited to apply for this international open call hosted by Florence Contemporary Gallery. Images must be original artwork created by the artist and not copies of previously existing works. Each artist or collective can only apply once; subsequent applications will not be considered.

Participation is free. Selected artists will be charged a fee to partially cover the awards (please check the Prize section for full info). Selected artists are, of course, free to accept or refuse the fee and consequently the participation.

The selected artists will:

✦ participate in the ‘Interchange’ group exhibition

✦ get individual promotion on the Florence Contemporary website, on social media, in the FC newsletter, and through a community of collectors, curators, and art enthusiasts from across the world. 

The chosen artists will also have the chance to participate in other initiatives, such as:

✦ having their biography and other works of art published in a catalogue

✦ having a personal interview posted on the Florence Contemporary platforms

✦ receiving a proposal for a long-term partnership with the FC gallery.

To apply for the opportunity to exhibit your work at Florence Contemporary Gallery, follow these simple steps:

✧ Sign Up and Create an Artit Portfolio: Register on our platform and create your artist portfolio. Provide essential details such as your name, contact information, social media profiles, a website link - if available, a brief artist biography and an artist statement. This allows us and the Florence Contemporary team to gain insight into your background and artistic journey.

✧ Submit Your Artwork: To apply, submit one image of one of your original works. Only the artwork should be visible, clear and in focus. Please crop out any background in the images or trademark. For the piece, please offer a thoughtful and detailed description. This information provides context and insight into your artistic process. More specifically, you’ll need to include each piece’s title, creation date, dimensions (in cm), medium used, price, and a short biography of around 150 words. 

✧ Mindful Selection: When choosing which artworks to submit, select pieces that prioritise the quality and impact of your work, and demonstrate your skill, creativity, and ability to engage and inspire viewers. Focus on your best works that you believe would make you stand out. 

✧ Expand Your Portfolio: Upload additional artwork to your portfolio, if you wish to give the Artit audience a better understanding of your overall style, values, preferred thematic interests, etc. This is your chance to showcase different facets of your artistic expression and have all your work compiled in one place for everyone to see. 

The artwork will be judged by the Florence Contemporary editorial team based on the following criteria: originality, quality, inventiveness, theme interpretation, overall design, creative ability displayed, and media selection. 

The decision is determined by the FC internal curatorial staff with the assistance of outside specialists, and it is final and unquestionable.

Based on the quality of each applicant's individual submission as well as the quality of their overall artistic practice, a shortlist of the best artworks will be created.
