Are you an artist based in Greece or Poland who is passionate about leveraging art to address pressing environmental challenges in waterfront cities? Join us in our Climate x Art initiative, Turning the Tide (TTT), which seeks to creatively respond to the climate crisis threatening waterfront communities.
Through this unique residency opportunity, x1 Greece and x1 Poland-based artists will have the chance to contribute to a transdisciplinary dialogue and create tangible works of art that amplify local voices and raise awareness about climate issues.
About Turning the Tide (TTT): TTT is an innovative project that harnesses the power of art to spark conversations and drive action on climate change and climate justice. By collaborating with socially engaged artists and local communities in four waterfront cities, TTT aims to explore the role of art in reshaping the narrative on climate issues.
Residency Details: The residency in Vienna, Austria offers two selected artists a 28-day residency from September 23, 2024, to October 21, 2024 (two weeks for research and two weeks for production). During this time, artists will have the opportunity to conduct cultural mapping, research, and co-create artistic works with the local community, inspired by their experiences and the insights gained during the residency.
Expectations and Engagement: The selected artists participating in the residency are expected to produce tangible artistic works that reflect their engagement with the local context and climate-related themes. These works will be showcased during an online exhibition, providing a platform for artists to share their perspectives with a global audience.
Additionally, artists will be invited to actively participate in online meetings before, during, and after the residency to receive feedback and guidance on their work. Moreover, they will engage in up to four local labs (in their respective country), facilitating artistic and social interactions with the local community and the other selected artists. These labs offer artists valuable opportunities to collaborate, exchange ideas, and gain insights into the cultural and environmental context of Vienna.
Accommodation and Support: During the residency, x2 artists (one based in Greece and another based in Poland) will be accommodated in designated spaces within Vienna, providing a conducive environment for artistic exploration and community engagement. Our team will provide support and guidance throughout the residency to ensure that artists have a fulfilling and enriching experience. Join us in Vienna and be part of a transformative journey where art meets activism to address the urgent challenges waterfront cities are facing.
